2A - Bug List

When it comes to my daily life, there are things that truly end up annoying me, these annoyances, or "bugs", are included as the following:

  1. RTS not running after 6PM - It's insanely difficult to get anywhere to or from campus when buses stop running at 6PM. I feel like it's a huge potential safety issue to make students walk home from campus.
    1. Why does it exist? Since drivers need sleep and its unreasonable to provide service at a time when most students might be home.
  2. My phone charges insanely slowly, and it's hard to keep it charged fully when it charges slowly.
    1. Why does it exist? To prevent fires from breaking out from phones charging too fast.
  3. Marston Library bathrooms consistently being dirty and a mess, making me uncomfortable to use them.
    1. Why does it exist? Since Marston sees a lot of traffic, and it's unreasonable to expect it to always be clean.
  4. My financial aid not disbursing fast enough, forcing me to cover rent out of pocket and cause confusion when I have to move money around.
    1. Why does it exist? So UF can ensure that scholarships are being distributed easily and effectively for all students.
  5. My favorite brand of gel pen consistently running out of ink and forcing me to use inferior pens to take notes.
    1. Why does it exist? Since it's unreasonable to expect that pens last forever, whatever brand they may be.
  6. The gym at Southwest Recreation Center is constantly packed, causing lines to form at every machine.
    1. Why does it exist? Since everyone needs to work out as much as I do, and I wouldn't choose not to come to the gym if someone else wanted me not to.
  7. The large amount of stray animals near my apartment bothers me.
    1. Why does it exist? Due to neighbors constantly feeding them and encouraging more to return and linger around the complex.
  8. The narrow streets in Gainesville create a dangerous environment for vehicles and might create a safety risk for drivers.
    1. Why does it exist? Since Gainesville is an old city, it's unreasonable to expect roads to be wide enough to accommodate the extra traffic.
  9. Library West is constantly crowded, and it's hard to find a seat in a spot that's good to study in.
    1. Why does it exist? Since the UF community is large, and unreasonable to expect that libraries constantly stay empty enough for everyone to find a seat.
  10. My roommates drinking all the milk in the house on a daily basis, forcing me to go out and buy groceries.
    1. Why does it exist? Since everyone in the house likes to drink milk, it runs out a on a near-daily basis.
  11. The weather in Gainesville is unpredictable and a sunny day can turn rainy in a matter of minutes, getting me entirely soaked.
    1. Why does it exist? Since Florida has a tropical climate, it's natural that our weather stays dynamic.
  12. All my friends from previous semesters have become too busy, and it's hard to remember the last time I hung out with any of them compared to how much I saw them in previous semesters.
    1. Why does it exist? The way life is, it's only natural that all of us became too busy at some point, and I can't expect things to stay the same way forever.
  13. The wi-fi slows down randomly and it makes getting homework done difficult.
    1. Why does it exist? Despite work on behalf of companies, wi-fi issues still occur.
  14. A friend of mine always chews his food with his mouth open, and it's loud enough to annoy our entire group of friends since it creates audible noise.
    1. Why does it exist? Everyone is raised differently, and it's unreasonable to expect everyone to have the same level of social etiquette.
  15. People at my work ignore signs that explain every relevant bit of information clearly, getting lost and causing them to yell at myself and other employees.
    1. Why does it exist? My work sees a lot of international guests, and I can't expect them all to be able to read English efficiently, and everyone has a different background.
  16. Other visitors at my local gym don't wipe down machines once they finish their workout, leaving a sweaty machine I have to wipe down.
    1. Why does it exist? Some people might end up having to rush somewhere halfway through their work out, and might not be able to spend time wiping down their machines for that reason.
  17. My friends around me being obsessed with getting into relationships, which I feel is an expectation that's harmful, and unrealistic.
    1. Why does it exist? I feel that media around us pushes the idea of getting into relationships, and I can't blame them for gaining a worldview based off that.
  18. Whenever I need to use the TV remote, I can't get it to work, only to find that the batteries have been taken out to be used in something else.
    1. Why does it exist? My siblings generally won't do this unless they actually need batteries for something, and I shouldn't be as upset about it.
  19. The sheer amount of plastic waste I see thrown out at work is immense, and I feel that it's very bad for the environment.
    1. Why does it exist? I feel that realistically, at this time there's no feasible alternative that's large-scale, but my job seems to be pushing renewability as of late, so this might change soon.
  20. My phone keeps being called by spam numbers, and it irritates me when I expect a real phone call, only to get robocalled.
    1. Why does it exist? Other people need to make money as well, and if sending out spam calls helps them do that, then I can't expect not to ever be called.
  • Reflection:
    • Having spent a large amount of time attempting to come up with this list, I feel that many of the problems I face are minor, and I shouldn't stress about any of them. A lot of these issues are things I can't really do much about, and stressing about those issues won't really change things and only detrimentally affect me. Towards the end of the list, I found myself scrounging for issues to be annoyed about, and they kept getting more minor as I went along, showing how grateful I should be to not have greater issues to worry about.
